I have generated a valid animated gif from an animation I drew in an iPhone application I wrote…
feels good… If I can get the whole file handling bit sorted I can get to work on a good UI.

currently trying to write an iOS app to do (at least) simple pencil test animations. more details to come as they arrive, we’ll have to see if I ever make something that will pass review..
if anyone has a spare iOS7 capable iPad to spare, I could use one for testing and development… 😉
terrible week in the shop. have removed the centerboard trunk preparatory to finishing the interior and was hit by a wave of ennui… Â have returned to software engineering to break things up a bit. Got the newer version of Xcode and sorted out the provisioning of my iPhone at last. (definitely much easier in Xcode 5. one step process now.)
I have a couple of iPhone, iPad projects I’m going to be working out over the next few weeks. partly for fun, and partly to beef up my portfolio as I look for a new job. (have to pay for the boat somehow, and auto-mechanics just isn’t my thing… 😉  Who knows, one of them might even sell… 🙂
I’ve been going to a life drawing class lately.
(You can tell I’m years out of practice…)
In addition to that, I’ve been doing a bit of wood carving. Â (decorative hanging knees for the boat…)
Both of these endeavors have started me sketching again. while I’ve been at it, I’ve been thinking about what makes sketching a pleasurable way to work out problems, and whether or not that experience can successfully be translated to a touchscreen device. Â Last year I did a considerable amount of work on a storytelling application, only to realize that at the time it was a bit beyond my capacity. Â I have somewhat more manageable idea now, based on the series of sketches I did as preliminaries to the wood carving. Â I realize that having to draw to a brief, or at least within a certain set of restrictions involves a fair amount of repetition. and performing repetitive tasks is what computers are all about… Â so watch this space. I may need a beta tester.
though realistically, this isn’t going to happen very quickly, I have a hobby…
